Hammerschlag & Co., Inc. was launched in 1995 as a parking advisory and consulting firm after Mr. Hammerschlag’s successful sale of a joint parking operations venture to a publicly held national parking operator. Hammerschlag & Co, Inc. has advised attorneys, owners, developers, investors, lenders, municipalities and managers of real estate assets on a national basis since that time. Over the past twenty years, our role as investor and acquirer of parking assets has grown and we provide asset management for the properties under our sponsorship. John W. Hammerschlag
Hammerschlag & Co. President, John W. Hammerschlag, has decades of experience in the parking industry and has built a parking investment and advisory services business that is unique in the industry. He understands the dynamics of the national and local parking markets, the nature of parking competition, and the players involved. As an expert witness, he has testified in parking matters involving parking economics, parking rate justification, parking development nuances and metrics, and parking asset valuation.

In 1995, Mr. Hammerschlag launched his own business, after the successful establishment and sale of a joint parking operations venture. Formerly, Mr. Hammerschlag held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer during his 15-year tenure with a privately held parking operator in Chicago where he directed the team development of five commercial self-park garages and operations for over 100 owned, leased and managed parking facilities.
From 1973 to 1976 he served as a commercial lending officer for Citibank in New York City. Mr. Hammerschlag's academic credentials include an MBA from the University of Chicago (1973) and a BSE from the University of Michigan (1970).

Mr. Hammerschlag is also a member of the International Parking & Mobility Institute (Planning, Design & Construction Committee), National Parking Association (Parking Consultants Council) where he formerly served as an officer and on its Board of Directors, Young Presidents Organization - Chicago Chapter, Urban Land Institute (nationally on the Transit Oriented Development Council), Economic Club of Chicago, Realty Club of Chicago, and participates in other local charitable and community organizations.
